A drive by shooting.

Because of the overwhelming demand (two requests) for more pictures of Texas I thought I would take my camera along with me on one of my daily bike rides. But, due to some legal issues and the fact that this part of Texas isnt all that picturesque I was only able to take four. The state prison is about a block away from our house and I usually ride my bike by it after work. Its not on my way home, and is actually in the opposite direction, but its one of the few places I can ride my bike and have something to look at other than brick houses and littered ditches along side the road. I was able to snap two pictures in the area of the prison before a perimeter patrolman pulled me over and told me to stop. Maybe some day before we leave I will take a few pictures of the prison itself while we drive by. It will be a drive by shooting. But, until that day here are the two that I had captured on bike:

This was one of my favorites. There are guard towers like this one all over the place and you can normally see the guard in his post with his feet up and his hat over his eyes taking a quick nap.

Thats right. If you escape from prison you may walk or run, but no hitch hiking!
The following two were taken between our house and work.

When its snowing in Montana its green in Texas. We have been getting quite a few rain storms lately but it still took a couple months for the grass to get green and the trees still arent filled with leaves. I dont think Ill ever get used to this climate.

There are hundreds of old road signs like this along side the street. You dont really notice them when you are driving but they stand out like a sore thumb when you ride a bike. Most of them are covered by a tree or a shrub that has grown around them over the years. Why doesnt somebody just remove them?
Beleisha and I are headed to Corpus Christi on Sunday for a small vacation and Ill be sure to bring my camera along with me.
